Ross Hill's standard DC module has been utilized for over a quarter of a century. The module has proven itself by being the number one SCR bridge controller in the drilling industry. Although the module s control scheme has remained essentially the same, Ross Hill has continuously refined and improved module performance to respond to our customers' needs. At the same time, Ross Hill’s goal has always been to keep the module simple and reliable, and virtually eliminate the need for servicing and troubleshooting.

The standard DC module can be configured to control series or shunt DC motors.

 Features of the DC module: 

?      SCR firing circuits with "hard-firing" outputs to ensure positive SCR turn on High-speed current regulator with twenty millisecond response

?      Automatic load sharing for motors driving the same shaft, when they are driven from separate armature supplies

?      Each drilling function has independent current limit, factory adjusted, no rig setup required

?      Rotary Table and Power Swivel current limit continuously variable through a potentiometer mounted in the Driller’s Console.

?      Drawworks current reference is ramped to provide for smooth of increase in motor torque.

?      Motor speed regulator for all drilling functions interlocked with related assignment contactors

?      Over current gate suppression set at 150% of largest current limit

?      Zero throttle interlock, a safety feature, prevents accidental motor power up on assignment

?      Manual bridge phase up for testing purposes.

?      Fault finder meter for troubleshooting possible control logic & speed reference problems

?      Module connections are hard wired, and there are no pin connectors to contaminate or loosen from vibration.

?      Bum-in testing eliminates any inferior components before the module leaves our plant.

?      Module carries standard Ross Hill warranty and can be returned for expert factory repair with a normal turn around time of about one week.
